100 BMOA Sponsored Students and Mentees as They Study Abroad

The members of the 100 Austin chapter felt it was important that our students explore things outside of their neighborhood.  This year, we decided to take it beyond their wildest dreams by sponsoring our mentees and students as they study abroad.  The 100 sponsored 4 students to study abroad in Dubai (2), (New Zealand 1), and Cape Town (1).  Jayden Bright and Jaylen Lee went to Dubai this past March, Helah Payne traveled to Cape Town this summer and it was life changing for all of them.

Helah Payne stated, “Studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa has been one of the most influential experiences I have had so far. It pushed me out of my comfort zone in so many ways and forced me to open my eye to the subconscious stereotypes we hold. I am beyond grateful to have been able to travel to the motherland and I could not have done it without the help of the 100Black Men of Austin Chapter. Thank you for benign such a huge support in my journey.”
