The 100 Partners with NASA to Provide 7,000 Eclipse Glasses for Students to Experience the Solar Eclipse

As part of our Education and STEM initiatives, The 100 Black Men of Austin partnered with NASA-National Aeronautics and Space Administration to provide 7,000 solar eclipse glasses to students in Austin ISD, Pflugerville ISD, Wayside, and Texas Empowerment Academy schools.  Students experienced the solar eclipse, Saturday, October 14th in Austin and will use the glasses for the full eclipse in April.

Kendra Scott and Daymond John Joins the 100 Black Men of Austin at Campbell Elementary School to Promote Literacy

President Karl Spencer had the pleasure of moderating, as part of our cultural competency initiative, Kendra Scott and Daymond John, while visiting Campbell Elementary. Daymond read his book, “Daymond Learns to Earn.”, students were given a copy of Daymond’s children’s book, and teachers and staff were given Kendra and Daymond’s books and Kendra Scott jewelry. The Kendra Scott Foundation also donated to the school’s literacy program. Such an incredible day for the students, teachers and staff at Campbell Elementary!

 

100 Black Men of Austin Attends the 52nd Annual Congressional Black Caucus

Board members of the 100 Black Men of Austin and students from Huston Tillotson University and The University of Texas attended the 52nd Annual Congressional Black Caucus in Washington DC.  100 Members attended the conference to amplify voter education, voter PSAs, network, meet with our sponsors and partners attending CBC, and support the 100 Black Men of Greater DC as they hosted the “See Myself in the C-Suite” panel during CBC for college students and those wishing to be in the C-Suite space in corporate America.  The 100 also sponsored students from HT and UT to experience CBC by attending panel sessions on AI, politics, and education, as well as networking with panelists, and Collegiate 100 chapters in attendance.

100 BMOA Supports King’s Men Brunch at Huston Tillotson University

The 100 Black Men of Austin partnered with Christopher Cutkelvin and Huston Tillotson University to support incoming freshmen at their King’s Men Bruch.  66 students and 30 men joined the brunch to encourage students to implement “5 – Wells” into their lives;

The 100 Black Men of Austin supported 25 laptops and 26 suits for students in need.
