The 100 Black Men of Austin and Foster Love had the opportunity to bless 64 foster kids with a shopping spree at H&M for the holidays. 100 BMOA members, Steve Riddick at Toyota North Austin, Huston-Tillotson Collegiate, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and other volunteers provided support by helping the youth shop throughout the store. They were able to pick what they wanted, as long as they stayed within their allotted budget. Of course there was a twist in the fact H&M supported by providing discounts to enhance their shopping experience! Let’s just say we had an awesome time giving back to those who need it most!

Thank you Foster Love and H&M for always supporting the foster youth in Austin, TX and the 100 Black Men of Austin. This is more than a partnership!

100 Black Men of Austin extends our heartfelt gratitude to Blavity Inc. for an incredible partnership.

Together, we provided an invaluable opportunity for 15 students from Huston-Tillotson Collegiate, Collegiate 100 Of Howard University, and @B.A.W.S.E. to attend the AFROTECH conference in Houston, TX.

AfroTech offered all of our student organizations life changing experiences, internship opportunities, networking sessions and events, and career exposure.

Opportunities like AfroTech are instrumental in empowering the next generation of innovators and change makers. Thank you Blavity Inc. for investing in our future leaders and we’re excited about the continued partnership.

The newly appointed Board of the Collegiate 100 at Huston-Tillotson University installed their inaugural class of members on campus.  Virginia Pearson (Advisor), Victoria Aviles (President), Asia Mueller (Vice President), and board members put together the inaugural ceremony as they installed 11 new members.  The members were excited and ready to put in work on the campus and in the community.

This week the 100 Black Men of Austin took students from the Collegiate 100 of Huston-Tillotson University and @hsweattcenter (University of Texas) to attend the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference in Washington DC. Students attended @cbcfinc sessions and @100blackmendc hosted the Inaugural Black Male Empowerment Symposium in partnership with @ylmi_hu at Howard University.

The 100 Black Men of Austin has been working behind the scenes the past few months for the upcoming academic year. We’re preparing for our voter education PSAs as well as supporting our Collegiate 100 at Huston-Tillotson University.

This past Saturday, we had the honor to work with our Collegiate 100 board members supporting incoming HT students at the IDEAL Summer Bridge program. We hosted 80 students at Harvey Pennick Golf course to educate students on the importance of starting off the school year on the right path by aiming for a 3.0 – 4.0 GPA, understanding the importance of networking, preparing their resumes and headshots, researching companies to prepare for internships, understanding financial freedom, and emphasizing all of the above starts now.
