The 100 received the following note from our partner Cortez Consulting thanking the 100 for their volunteering efforts;
Thank you for contributing to the success of the Colony Park Back to School Bash. We are extremely grateful for the support of 100 Black Men and look forward to collaborating on this event next year. With your help, we were able to provide over 700 stuffed backpacks, free sports physicals & immunizations, free haircuts and over 100 bicycles. More importantly, the time you spent supporting our team was invaluable.
Emmanuel Ashford was awarded the 2019 100 Black Men of Austin, Inc. scholarship. Emmanuel is a rising senior at Westwood High School and was chosen to attend the NYLF Engineering forum. The scholarship covered his registration fees and airline tickets.
“My experience at the National Youth Leadership Forum: Engineering at the University of California Berkeley was both new and intuitive. Not only was I at a residential camp for a week with a bunch of strangers, I was in a new city, at a campus I had never been to before, in a region of the world I never remembered going to… I can’t thank everyone who helped enough for their efforts. Going to UC Berkeley was a fulfilling opportunity and I may spend the next four years or so on their campus. Thank you [to the 100 Black Men of Austin] for [their] support and for being willing to open [their] hearts to my current and future academic efforts.”
- E. Ashford, 100 Scholarship Recipient
